Yeah, as much as I appreciate Nucky and Eli's progressiveness when it comes to race (though it's really just capitalism), I'm not sure taking sides against fellow whites (some of which are probably in positions of power) is the wisest move.

    That speech was unreal.

The most entertaining thing about the show is that NJ politics work exactly like that to this day.

My particular line of thinking wasn't so much race related. Take the Klan story line out. I'm just thinking they haul this guy in, who hasn't done anything (at least what he's accused of in this instance), tells them as much, sticks to his story, gets beaten most of the night before having a finger chopped off only to hear "He must be telling the truth."

I'd be looking for some payback, don't care who.

Playing catchup...the Luciano doctor visit and the dental office questioning in Episode 3 were Sopranos/Deadwood-caliber.
And unlike Trixie, Lucy would've finished Hearst (with the derringer) after dropping her drawers.

This week's episode featured Arnold Rothstein discussing the Black Sox for several minutes.

With the show now having established dual bases of operations in Jersey and Chicago, I suspect the 1919 Series fix will be somewhat of a recurring subject as the show goes on.

I think they just kinda threw it in there to flesh our Rothstein without doing much research. The time element in the show is now March, at one point he mentioned "the Series was months ago, and people are still talking about this" where in reality they talked about it for a year before the players were banned at the end of the 1920 season.

I guess we can stop asking "will they or won't they?" for Nucky and Margaret.

Jimmy is going to do his best Omar impersonation after Pearl killed herself. He may even give Capone some lessons in revenge.

Well, there were a few 'bursts' of public speculation/press coverage about the alleged Series fix. There were some stories over the 1919-20 offseason, and periodic rumors thereafter, but basically the whole thing dropped off the radar screen until August when the reports of the supposed Cubs-Phillies fix broke nationwide and all of a sudden the Black Sox story began pouring out.

Remember the White Sox were in a season-long pennant race with Cleveland and the Yankees in 1920. It wasn't until the last couple weeks of the season that enough details came out and people demanded suspensions.

OK, someone explain to me why the Fed was beating himself with a belt. He sets up the picture of the Schroeder lady, turns the photo of his wife down and then whips himself (and it wasn't the first time with all those scars). Is he punishing himself? At first when he took of his belt I thought he might be getting ready to do some H. Very confused about that scene.
