One of the fumbles was on the center so that is not two fumbles. "quite a few ducks" What game where you watching. By all accounts what every so called character issues he HAD, they are clearly not effecting him or his teammates now. Seems to me all everyone talks about with Smith is his passion for his teammates and being a team leader. Thugs generally are not considered team leaders. Yes, Smith made some mistakes but those are more then a few years ago and he has matured. If we were to eliminate every athlete from awards because of personal life mistakes no one would win anything. Smith not throwing for over 300 until Michigan is a reflection of how good his team is and how he played well and didn't need to pad his stats like Brady Quinn. I do agree Laurenitus and Ginn are very big parts of this team and Smith would tell you himself they deserve more credit for wins then he does but clearly he is the most important single player on The Ohio State University football team. He joins only one other QB in Ohio State history to beat Michigan 3 times.

Indians, I disagree that "If we were to eliminate every athlete from awards because of personal life mistakes no one would win anything."

Yours is a global generalization and a very poor one.

Further, your statement, "Smith made some mistakes but those are more then a few years ago and he has matured." is false.

He took money from a booster just last year.

In addition, your "has matured" statement is the equivilant of saying, "OJ had made a mistake by killing Ron and Nichole, but he has matured - all is well in the garden."

I would suggest if you were to present an arguement, you may want to start with facts and well structured sentances and paragraphs. We all may mispell from time to time, so no points deducted there.

You are correct by alluding that he would acknowledge his teamates. Even tonight he stated that Ginn, Jr. would get his Heisman vote.

Agreed. Bringing OJ Simpson into this discussion is a disgrace. Jimmy, you have proven yourself to be a complete jackass.

If you want to start with facts, how about knowing when the money from a booster incident happened. It was in 2004. Last time I checked, that's not last year. He was punished for the 2004 season bowl game and the opener of last year. You also managed to incorrectly spell equivalent in your inept attempt at an analogy.

I know less about football than just about anyone one here, but I know that I'm worse than second-to-last.

Quote: "Tedd Ginn, Jr. is the MVP on that team IMO."

"IMO" does not excuse it. Ginn is no better than fourth or fifth MVP. He's behind Gonzalez, Pittman, Laurinaitis and Troyboy.

If the DAC were to decide not to invite Troy Smith based on a "moral clause," I truly hope they'd ask Reggie Bush to place the call to Smith, explaining the decision.

    Marshall Faulk on line 2.

Woodson won it in 1997. Faulk got runner-up in 1992. So why the juxtaposition here?

I know this isn't necessarily Jimmy Olsen posting this, but it's definitely his crew.

Here's what goes on over at his corner of the globe, if anyone was doubting why one familiar with Notre Dame fans might feel uneasy about the Smith-Quinn racial dynamics

Personally I think if Troy Smith was white he'd not be so ahead in the voting----if he didn't have a checkered past he wouldn't be supported by all these limousine liberals and their hatred against the Church and ND (the establishment).

And just one more - a couple of weeks ago, after the woman who a few years ago had filed rape charges against several Notre Dame players who were then acquitted, one of the major board moderators over at that cesspool, a guy who has actually written a Notre Dame book and been credentialed for basketball games in the past, said that, if indeed she actually had been raped, because of her reputation as a jock sniffer, his "sympathy level would be only moderate."
