The same Herm who let an over-the-hill Ty Law live by his own rules last year in Hempstead?

Quick, everyone! Stop arguing logic with BYH!

His fingers are going numb from being rammed into his ears while he squints his eyes closed and chants 'NANANANANANAA'

Damon Huard to be the starter for the rest of the season, Herms would be stuiped if he sits Damon Huard.

That's two players, albeit great ones. But ...

The Chiefs lost possibly the greatest tackle ever in Willie Roaf. They lost one of the greatest blocking fullbacks in recent memory in Tony Richardson. They have a slew of No. 2 and No. 3 receivers. They right now have a tight end playing fullback. Guys like Kyle Turley and Jordan Black are playing on the offensive line. And again, Damon Huard is quarterback. And yet, halfway through the season, the Chiefs are 5-3, having won 5 of 6.

everyone knows i'm not herm's biggest fan, by any means. that said, it's indisputable that he's done a tremendous job holding k.c. together thus far, despite losing his star qb, etc.

to call him a "liar" regarding the huard-green situation is just wrong. part of effective coaching is adjusting on the fly. geez, this is akin to labeling don shula a "liar" because he was a coach committed to ball control/running but then let marino open up the offense.

you adjust by sticking with whatever's working.

That last statement is why Don Shula was one of the best coaches. He adjusted what he did to his talent. It's why he ran when he had Larry Csonka, Mercury Morris and Jim Kiick. It's why he threw the ball when he had Dan Marino.

I love these coaches who have their one system, and blame everyone else and everything when they don't have every little piece to run that one system. Growth and adjustment isn't just for players.

parcells is like that too. everyone thinks he's all about ball control/defense. but he's had years where he's aired it out, too, because that's what his personnel called for.

which isn't to say herm is shula or parcells. just that to call a coach a "liar" because the landscape unexpectedly changes is just wrong. herm may be a fraud on some levels. this just isn't an example of it.

    Shockey,

Parcells has proven he can adjust to his personnel. He did ball control and defense with the Giants because he had the stout defense, the drive-blocking linemen, the backs and a patient, team-first guy in Phil Simms running the offense.

He adjusted in New England with one of the most pass-happy offenses in the league because he had a gunslinger in Drew Bledsoe, and lacked the kind of stud back until Curtis Martin came along. Whatever head games he plays or ego he tends to march out in front of the media, no one can dare say Parcells can't make adjustments.

  11. Plus ramming his fingers into his ears hurts his testicle.

  12. Boy, does this argument sound familiar to anyone who lived in NE in 2001.
