No. He was supposed to be turning over his daughter to the company. He couldn't do it. He wanted the Haitian (who is helping him and Claire for some reason as yet unknown) to erase his memory so the Company couldn't find out what happened to her.

Presumably, he was shot so the Company would think he was accosted by the Haitian, who took Claire with him. (Since his memory was erased, they would know who did it.)

That part had nothing to do with the company's best interest. It was their way of covering Claire's escape with the Haitian. The gunshot was meant to make it look like Claire was taken against Bennett's will. And the memory wipe was to help cover their tracks.

Remember, the company now has access to a mind reader and they sure seem to think they can control Parkman.

Edit: Ace beat me to most of it

I understand about the spoilers being mentioned in the thread title, which is why I'm not all that upset about it.

I just think limiting the spoilers to the episode that has been aired is a good practice. After all, you could go to all kinds of spoiler sites on the internets and post the info here and I think most people would be surprised and a bit annoyed that an UPCOMING show is ruined. I generally take SPOILERS to refer to the most recent episode (which is why I don't check the thread until I see the episode). Maybe I'm alone on that.

It doesn't seem like talking about something that's going to happen next week will add much to a discussion of what happened this week.

If people still want to do it, I can't stop them, but don't see much reason to include stuff from next week until it happens.

Just my $.02 and I promise that's the last you'll hear about it.

Fair enough. Sorry if my earlier response came off snarky. I just meant that the people who have referred to the scenes from next week probably figured that as part of Spoilers.

Nah, it wasn't a big deal. I know that some (most?) people probably figure that. That's why I just figured I'd put my objection out there and if people want to follow it, fine. If not, it's not a huge deal.

I think Hiro's father would have to know. And as for Simone, her father did own the building where Claude lives and where Hiro's father was shown in the flashback, so maybe she's special too? The building rooftop some kind of nexus point for the show, so I think her dead father, who seemed quite wealthy, has some kind of past connection with the group.

  7. This was a fabulous episode.

They actually succeeded in making us feel for Glasses Guy, even in spite of all the horrible things he'd done and revelation of additional horrible things that he'd done. I thought he might be biting the dust until I saw him show up in the promo for next week.

I disagree with the people who think this show can't sustain. These are superhero type characters, written by a group of people who obviously are intimately familiar with the mythology. Heroes move from crisis to crisis. as long as the ratings success is maintained, they can create other evildoers, problems and dilemmas--I'd be surprised if Sylar survives through the season, however. Plus, keep in mind they could always turn current "good guys" evil.

Oh, and if a piano had been handy I think the Hulk "leaving town" music would've been appropriate at the end of the show.

There has been some discussion of how certain characters match up with X-Men and other Marvel heroes, some in personality type and others in power.

Mr. Bennett is very much like Magneto without powers. He is ruthless and willing to go to any lengths for his ideals, but also a family man and something of a tragic character.

I agree with the notion that comic book story lines can morph. I'm just not sure that viewers will stay tuned when it goes down that path.

Nah, I thought Mr. Bennet was more like FBI agent Fred Duncan. A government guy who has no powers, began as a skeptic, and now believes in the mutants.

(He was the guy who helped Professor X track down the original X-Men in the old days).

But really . . . I think this show is more like Rising Stars. That J. Michael STraczynski epic about people with all sots of powers and a tragic destiny. Great comic.

Could be. I never read Rising Stars, so I only compare with what I know. Only problem with the Dugan comparison is I don't know of "Dum Dum" ever murdering anybody.

Love the show. Loved the episode.

I give it 18 more episodes before every thread about Heroes is like the ones about Lost: Everyone bitching about how they don't really like it anymore and that they better pay this or that off or else they are going to stop watching...
