What crazier things do you speak of?

    Abolishing public education, for starters.

And blaming the Clintons for the political climate in America is beyond ridiculous. But you knew that when you typed it.

Right, because that's an institution that has produced such stellar results. I've always contended the Libertarian party's biggest problem is fear. We bill ourselves as a progressive society but we fear change and we fear any new idea by saying "well that's just not going to work because this is the way we have always done it."

I'm all for "if it ain't broke" but unfortunately, when it comes to public education -- it is broke.

I don't think so Zeke. The "shock and awe" methods of destroying your enemies was the favorite play of the Clintons. Politics have become far more personal and far less cordial, far less about solutions and far more about winning, than I can remember in my life time.

Yes, the poisonous well of discourse in the 1990s originated solely from Camp Clinton, and Limbaugh, Gingrich, Richard Mellon Sciafe, the Arkansas Project, David Brock, Gennifer Flowers, Lucianne Goldberg, Jonah Goldberg, The American Spectator, the state troopers, Bob Barr, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin, Karl Rove, Michael Savage, Lauch Faircloth, Jesse Helms and Ken Starr were all innocent bystanders helplessly swept up in the sludge.

    Holy god.

I would love to see a strong Libertarian Party. But if we had three strong parties instead of two, here's something that would surely happen: The winner would never (OK, rarely) get 50% of the vote in national elections. And can you imagine a three-party Congress? Nothing would get passed.

Hey, now that you mention it, what a great idea. Smaller government by gridlock. :D :D :D

The Dukakis ad isn't so much about "record" as it is one freak incident spun into something different than what it was, though. The supposed "weekend passes" were supervised work release for inmates so they weren't just festering in prison with no contribution to anyone.

I'll concede that the Dukakis ad might just be a matter or personal opinion -- I remember seeing that spot as a youngster and it disturbing me worse than a horror movie could. Still, if we're going to talk misrepresentation of a candidate, to me it doesn't get a lot worse than associating a person with murder and rape.

So that was a "contribution" that Willie Horton made while out on pass?

And the first campaign to bring up Willie Horton against Dukakis was the Gore campaign during the primary season.

Say what you want, but Horton was part of Dukakis' record.
