I think Ted rode the tricycle first, but didn't acknowledge if he had or hadn't.
    Just saying.
They make a reference to Ted's wife at the college reunion, but I don't remember what year it was set in.
So I would think she is still alive.

Except he openly refers to her as Aunt Robin when speaking to the kids doesn't he?

She would still be their aunt (in the Italian sense) wouldn't she?

She doesn't start being their "mom" just cause mom died.

It's a crazy theory, but one that I'm just throwing out there.

The kids have never shown any real interest in their dad's story about how he met his mom. And the reason Ted is making them listen to this story was explained last season - because he knew nothing about his own parents' relationship, including when they divorced and started dating other people. Upon learning that, he swears to Robin that he will tell his future kids everything about how he met their mother.

The ratings have been pretty solid this year, btw, so I don't think we have to worry about cancelation anymore. Every since the Britney Spears appearance it's been around 9 million viewers, give or take, which means it's probably safe.

FWIW, the scene with Barney trying to figure out how to bed Robin again using mathematical formulas had me rolling.

The other best thing about it (in case you guys didn't catch it) is that you can briefly see where he wrote "Just Be Myself?" and then crossed it out.

"Barney Stinson at law. Let's talk about getting you off..."

"I need to know that you know you made the biggest mistake of your life."
    Oh, Ted Mosby...

That's the last we'll see of Sarah Chalke ... until Scrubs' new season, at least.

One of our (wife and me) biggest gripes is that most often good shows get really stupid after awhile. Plots get stupid or good roles become stupid, then there's the inevitable food fight or something equally ridiculous.
It looked like this show was heading that way with the under the table stuff. (Nobody is gonna do that). But then they brought it back with some really good stuff: each of them talking about the one person they wouldn't want to see, and the drama of Ted chasing down Stella. It ended pretty well.
