I'm no help with that, Some Guy. I never liked Seinfeld and I love How I Met Your Mother.

The digressions are part of my enjoyment of HIMYM. I know the show is pretty much done when Ted meets the mother and I'm in no hurry for it to get there.

I think I'm from your generation, because "plot progression" doesn't mean much to me, either.

I am still hoping it is the girl who he hooked up with after breaking up with Robyn. . . the one who is overseas at a cooking school right now (I can't remember her name). She's a babe.

That is who some of us were talking about earlier. Victoria is the character's name and she is played by the delicious Ashley Williams.

Without a doubt, one of the sweetest faces ever on screen. Star of the ill-fated "Good Morning Miami" and the sister of Brad Paisley's wife, Kimberly Williams.

In my book, Brad Paisely will forever be known as Kimberly Williams' husband.

    Yes. Totally agreed.

Except -- to me, Kimberly Williams will always be known as Ashley Williams' sister. ;)

Was that Victoria who he met at the wedding? She is smoking hot. She's cooking in Germany.

I would love for it to be Victoria. But I doubt it would be.

And no love for the Cecilia joke?

"This is all the people breaking my heart. This is all the people shaking my confiedence daily. And in the middle is Cecillia."

I had to download the song right after that just to listen to it.

  10. I'm 24 and don't think age has anything to do with it. It's a storytelling preference. I like actually seeing plot development in a show, I'm not a fan of wasting my time watching nothing (which is why I thought Seinfeld was just OK. Nothing great, but not the worst thing ever). But the two shows are very different. Seinfeld was the show about nothing ... HIMYM is a love story told in reverse.

I realize plenty of you disagree about plot progression (although I don't care, it is my opinion, after all), but my point isn't that every episode needs plot progression or that is has to be leaps and bounds towards finding the mother, but there were about 10 straight episodes this season in which nothing even remotely relating to the mother was mentioned. Hell, about the only thing that happened was Barney pining over Robin. To me it was like treading water. Sure, the episodes were funny, but aside from a memorable line or two or a funny scenario, nothing from those episodes stick out. But again, I'm sure I will be torn down for actually like the different style that this show took for the first three seasons (you know ... not like all other sitcoms).

That's a perfectly valid opinion to have. I'm just saying, there wasn't a moment this season when I thought, "Wait a minute ... what does this have to do with meeting the mother?"

It never dawned on me until clicking on this thread.

Although, if you can't agree that Seinfeld was absolute genius ... I don't think I can relate to you. Of course, you were, what, 11 when that show went off the air? So maybe you can be absolved. ;)

I know Sarah Chalke is beloved on this board, but going back to her would be a mistake.
