She left him standing at the altar. No second chances.

Cecilia joke ruled. No doubt about it.

I loved that, and "this is a pie chart representing my favorite bars, and a bar graph representing my favorite pies." And the "roast beef and creatine" line from Barney.

    10 points, in bullet form...

    10. I miss Lilly. A lot of people complain about Ted, and how he's the least interesting character, but the thing I like the most about this show is that it has the right chemistry. And in order for that to truly work, Allyson Hannigan needs to be there. I know there are obviously circumstances making that impossible, but I miss her interplay with Marshall. I would have loved to hear her make some snarky comments about Barney's list.

    9. I love the music on HIMYM. Always have. Guided By Voices "Glad Girls" was a sweet selection for the "If I would have know..." montage.

    8. Whether you liked it or not, this was sort of a quintesential HIMYM episode in terms of storytelling. We get the messing with time, the voice over on what might have happened, a story that unfolds with little hints along the way. Even though the ending was a bit of a letdown, I was still riveted. As others have pointed out, if your response was "I with the kids would say 'Shut up and get to the end' then this is not the show for you."

    7. Obviously Stella's not the mom. I don't know that you're even supposed to believe that at this point. I actually think even her friend might be another head fake. It seems clear right now that the most logical path is for Stella to introduce Ted to the women who eventually becomes his mom (a woman who was also at that St. Patrick Day's party, and who Ted just so happened to grab her umbrella) but I wonder if that's not too obvious now and that it might not even be a little more of a twist than that.

    6. I agree that it would have been a nice moment if Victoria (Ashley Williams) would have been under that umbrella. It really would have, even if Williams has a lazy eye that only a handful of people besides me are willing to admit they see. She was such a cutie, and while I don't think she should be the mom either, I'd like to see her return at some point because they had pretty good chemistry.

    5. 200 seems like a pretty low number for Barney, but I'm betting that some CBS executive wasn't particularly thrilled with the idea of a guy sleeping with 500 chicks, thus they made it 200 (and frankly, 500 would be pretty gross). But given what we know about Barney, two a month doesn't seem particularly slutty.

    4. For the first time throughout the series, I think I'm on board for the Robin/Barney pairing. I was dead set against it when it happened (Sandcastles in the Sand is one of my least favorite HIMYM episodes) but now I think I'm finally on board. The way he looked at her after he tore up his list, well, that was kind of nice.

    3. The Cecilia joke was awesome. So was "roast beef and creatine." Jim Abbot? That made me cringe a little bit.

    2. Anyone else catch the joke about Barney's weightlifter chick? About how she posed for magazines that spelled sexy "S-E-X-X-Y," as though she has Klinefelter's Syndrome? Well done.

    1. Also really liked the call back to the Intervention, which wasn't super funny the first time, but seemed like a perfect callback this time around.

I agree on all points DD.

As long as HIMYM brings the funny, then I don't care about meeting the mom ... yet.

Same here. And I actually gave "Good Morning Miami" a chance just because of Ashley Williams.

So, after tonight, Stella isn't the mom. Her husband didn't hook Ted up with a job or woman. Neither did Stella.
Ted however got Stella and Tony back together.
But, last week's episode said Ted and Stella meeting on the corner was key to everything.
Now what? I don't get the corner meeting after tonight's episode.
BTW, I thought the episode was great and next week the fabled goat makes its appearance. Finally.
Next week also has a party and maybe Tony sets Ted up with a girl for the party, maybe?
Also of note, www.weddingbridemovie.com doesn't work. Boo.

I'm guessing the movie will somehow be a part of Ted meeting the mother.

I think the movie will be Tony's version of breaking up Ted and Stella. The movie poster looked like the three of them

That's how I took it, too. The part about the movie playing a role in Ted meeting the mother was just a guess.

So Tony writes the script for a movie version of How I met Your Mother, The Stella episodes.
And he asks Ted to help out and he goes along for the ride.
So out in Hollywood, Ted falls for the actress playing Stella in the movie. She's an actual actress (maybe the girl who plays 13 on House) playing herself playing the role of Stella and she's the Mother.
How meta and how much of a twist would that be?
Plus the release date is set for next year's sweeps, so it would be a perfect tie-in.

I thought tonight's episode was one the worst of the season.

No real plot progression -- which I don't really care about -- but nothing really humorous either. There was nothing that made me laugh out loud or commend with a clap like most every other episode.

I'm just going to assume tonight's episode was meant to help set up the finale.

One thing I did like about tonight's episode was the fact that they hinted at something for next season with the wedding movie storyline. It gives me something to look forward to.
