A strange episode after the big tease of last week -- I'm sure it will all make sense, but I felt like I was being played as a sucker after last week. Even worse, I didn't think that it was that funny.

And if anyone is going to play Stella in a movie, it should be the original Becky on Roseanne.

Too obvious. If we know anything about this show, it doesn't do obvious.

I think it'll be something closer to last week's episode. We see Ted deciding to turn left instead of right when leaving his apartment and the backstory to each decision. In the final scene Ted sees a girl, introduces himself and the VO says "And kids, that's how I met your mother."

I thought I read somewhere (maybe here) that they weren't going to show the mother until the series finale. I guess that doesn't mean that it couldn't be someone who has been on in the past. My worry is that in a year or two the ratings will dip and the show will be canceled before we know anything.

  5. If you haven't noticed, every season ends with something being set up that could be the mother ... that's because this is the first year the show hasn't been in danger at this point in the season. I am sure the writers have something planned. The only way it won't work is if CBS cancels it mid-season, which they won't do, not with the largest syndication sum in history. I think they will end up doing things Lost-style and choosing their own ending point.

A friend sent me an e-mail saying that Marshall's beer named after a dirty word or phrase, but he didn't want to put it in an e-mail. Is this true and did anyone catch this? I didn't

nothing on Ted's ringtone when Barney calls from jail? I hope I'm not the only one who caught that.

One of the finest songs ever performed by Canada's own Robin Sparkles.

I thought the episode was ok. Not great, but I didn't have any major problems with it. As stated above, I love that "Let's Go To The Mall" was Ted's ringtone, and it was just a throwaway thing that wasn't mentioned. Also loved Robin's line about "You got Tony to break up with Stella? I'm sorry, but you have got to bump this!"

The rest of it? Meh. I like Sarah Chalke so much, but it was a little bit of a leap to make believe that Ted would be nice enough to talk to Tony and convince him to get back together. Even as nice as Ted is.

I still can't believe people were actually faked out or felt like they were led to believe she was the mom. I did actually like the somewhat meta commentary that the mom is getting here "as fast as she can." If you're mad they haven't revealed the mom yet, chill. She's getting here as fast as she possibly can.

Barney has come a long way from when he was terrified to drive a few years ago.
