HIMYM Season....um...what season is it?

I am just hanging on now to find out who it is and solve the mystery. There is no way I'm going to watch the cable fumes of a show that is not only on its last legs but is considering amputating them one by one. Plus I can't believe the actors are going to stick around for all that, they are moving into successful film careers.

I think in the interview I read, they said that if they go that route, they'll wrap the show up in the next two seasons (they've got a contract through season 8) and then move on.

Jason Segal has said he's in to the end, whenever that is.

I haven't seen the actors who play Ted or Robin in anything else. NPH usually has a few projects going, but nothing as big as Segal.

"The end" would seem to me to be the end of the network run, but maybe the money would be good enough for Segel to keep going on cable. Seems like he must work very hard 12 months out of the year, though, to do everything he does.

Robin is in "The Avengers" and I know had a baby not long ago. I think she has a few other things too. But that would not be a big hurdle in the plot as they have made many references to her upcoming world travels and disappearance from the group.

I guess my big issue is that the writing has dropped off. But maybe they are just in a slump for the last few shows, it has happened before.

I'm guessing Robin's part in "The Avengers" will be a very small one. Comic book geeks like me know who SHIELD Agent Maria Hill is, but most of the Marvel movie audience most likely does not. She ain't gonna be stealing screen time from Samuel Jackson, much less the Avengers themselves.

How about a Sopranos-style blackout in the moment just before they meet?

I've longed hope the producers would continue the show with Ted and the eventual mother of his children. I'd hate to think we spent all these seasons watching these characters and not see how it plays out.

I've also posited that we've seen the mother and the actress who will play her, the current girl playing the daughter. All those reaction scenes and shots of them sitting there were filmed the first season. She's all grown up and was in Hot Tub Time Machine if any recalls seeing that stinking turd.

And Henry, didn't Cheers sort of do that with Norm's wife? They never showed her during the show's run, and the final episode they cut away after only showing her legs.

Hot Tub Time Machine was great.

I believe the only shot of Vera was her face covered in pie.

Steam going out of this thread and this show ... Watched tonight but didn't care much either way. But I'm watching a Season 1 rerun, and holy crap is Jason Segel a tubbo now. He was positively sleek and athletic early. It's a Miguel Cabrera-like transformation.

That episode was bad, but this season has had plenty of good moments.

Agreed. But with the start of Sweeps, I was expecting a bit more out of last night. As my wife pointed out after the show, I didn't even chuckle - let alone laugh - until Barney made the decision to brave the bee swarm at the end.
