HIMYM Season....um...what season is it?

I thought that was a really good episode until the very end. ... I can buy Robin and her emotions. My last relationship ended basically because we were going in two completely opposite life directions and it wasn't going to be feasible for one of us to give up our careers/dreams to be with the other. When you have fundamental philosophical differences, it's hard to overcome them. That said, I can't believe Ted would spring that shit on her the second after that breakup. That's awful. No man would do that. And (duh), we know she's not the mother. So we get another season of Ted and Robin, yada, yada. Hate that turn.

I'll admit I was hoping that Barney's not-so-secret pining was actually for Robin, and when he got out of the cab he was headed to her place.

Instead, we get Ted-Robin 3.0. And this show just found its way off my DVR's record-series list.

I'm not so sure they'll put Ted and Robin back together. Remember Ted saying he learned it wasn't good to hang out with her and Barney. So maybe Ted's moronic love pronouncement is what spurs him to spend time away from them.

This episode made me want to throw things.

Who says he wasn't going after Robin? Who says he isn't in the apartment, waiting, as Ted confesses his love?

OK, admittedly, I am sure some of you who like to read about who's cast in what role for how many episodes probably know damn well if Becki Newton will be back next week. I don't want any spoilers. I liked this episode a whole lot more thinking that there's at least a chance Barney is down in the apartment or even climbing the fire escape as Ted expresses his feelings.

I just like that the roof is never used for anything beyond parties, introspective thoughts and cliff-hanger conversations. Never do they say, "You know, it's a nice night. Instead of hanging out in the apartment, let's go up to the roof and drink."

I love this show, but at the end of last night's episode, I turned to my fiancee and said, "we're doing this again?"

The whole story of the show is told to the kids and Robin can't have them.

The fact that Kal Penn is off the show has to make the night a win, though.

He had negative chemistry with Robin.

Yes. It always felt ... clumsy.

One thing we didn't hear yet is her reaction. Maybe she shoots him down.

Still, moments like these make it harder and harder to root for Ted to find happiness. He's a douchebag. Remember, this is the same guy who told Robin he had broken up with his girlfriend so he could sleep with her when they hadn't actually broken up, at least not yet. Now he is trying to win her back as she tells him she broke up with the guy she wanted to marry. Exactly how many times do the writers think they can get away with making Ted act like this and have us still care?
