That's the one, yes. In the real world I don't know how you'd come back from that episode, but on TV they could make some drama about it.

    No Ashley Williams. :)

To me, the most recent one that got away was Robin, because he told her that he loved her and she turned him down. But some other very good theories posted on this thread.

Sheesh, it felt like a month since a new episode...and then we get pretty much a throw away one.
Except, seeing everyone living somewhere else was weird. Ted in his new place and having Lilly and Marshall's stuff at the old apartment. It was hard to keep up, but they did a good job with it.
I did find it funny that Barney kept hiding his left hand in "2015" while sitting on the couch to keep us guessing if he actually gets married to Quinn.

I think that was the purpose of the episode: To get us settled into a new orientation that might last the remainder of the show.

There were a few great sight gags, none better than trucker hat-wearing fetus.

Also, Cobie Smulders brought her A-game to an episode where she had like three lines.

  7. Complete throwaway episode to me. I get they need to establish some new surroundings, just didn't like how they went about it. Didn't we already know that Ted is questioning whether he's ever going to find love? Don't we already know that he does find it? These are things they don't need to beat us over the head with, especially when they don't advance the story in any capacity.

I thought it did advance the story just a smidge, since we now know in 2015 Ted has a daughter.

True to a point, but even using all the latitude they possibly could on the kids' ages in 2030, he really had to have one by then. Because if that daughter is 14 or younger in 2030, I have some serious thought crimes to apologize for.

I'm getting a little more disgusted with this show by the week. TOTALLY useless episode.

I think one of the tradeoffs in the structure of How I Met Your Mother is that people are going to overlook an episode filled with funny moments because it didn't push the plot, especially at this point in the show's run. That episode was very funny.
