HIMYM Season....um...what season is it?

It was a college reunion, where Ted realizes that he didn't make out with Lily at their orientation, but some other girl. I think it was at least 20 years down the road, a flash forward past what he's telling the kids.

Plus, doesn't Ted talk about sitting on the porch with Marshall and Lily and his wife when they're all old, or did I make that part up in my mind? I remember the episode, just can't remember if he mentions the mother or not.

That porch episode is told through another POV -- I think it's Lily's explanation for why she keeps sabotaging Ted's relationships, because she can't picture the women being part of the group. I don't think it's part of the story Ted told his kids.

Some executive at CBS just got a boner for this idea. What's weird, I could totally see that happening. And since I'm a sucker for HIMYM, I'd watch HIMYF.

Didn't NBC try to pull off something similar? It was two shows, both set in the same apartment building. One show had a female lead, while the other had a male lead and characters from both shows would interact occasionally, like the two leads would be in the elevator together.

I dunno about that, but I seem to recall Seinfeld, Friends and Mad About You all having brief universe intersections.

I don't remember a Seinfeld crossover. But Friends and Mad About You both had Phoebe's twin sister Ursula as a very minor character. Plus I think Helen Hunt wound up at the coffee shop one night.

IIRC, Kramer had Paul Buchman's old apartment.

And yet there also were inconsistencies within the universes. In a later season of "Mad About You," Jerry Seinfeld appeared as himself and didn't recognize Paul Buchman. More glaringly, there was a gag on Seinfeld about how George was made fun of because Susan made him watch Mad About You.

    A wizard did it.

Technically though...maybe the show Mad About You was a show in that universe...but had different actors.
    *shrugs*
I dunno what I am saying either.

  11. I definitely am looking forward to it because I think they have to at least show us a couple of things we don't know. Obviously, we will find out who Barney's bride is. I don't think we'll see Ted meeting the mom but between Barney's bride and the baby, it should be interesting.

Anybody with guesses or predictions on who Barney ends up with?

I still think it's going to be Robin. I was watching an old episode the other day and was reminded that Ted had agreed to be Robin's best man at her wedding and there have been clues dropped to Ted in other episodes about the best man being needed but they don't say it's by Barney necessarily. Should be interesting.

  12. Did they ever go back on the girl that was his perfect match from an early season? Saw that episode the other day, too, where Ted gets fixed up with his perfect match by that dating service and then Lilly calls him to help her fix the flat (when she freaked about the wedding) and Ted gets a ride back from Robin and doesn't show up for the date.

So you think Barney ends up with Quinn? I do think they'll at least hint at Ted's girl but I don't think we see her.

    SPOILER (sort of)

On the description of tonight's show, it says something to the effect of "the gang encourages Ted to go after the one that got away."
That would seem to imply it's someone we know though he could in theory pursue the one that got away on tonight's episode without it actually being the future mom.
