Hockey Unis (Is this acceptable to everyone?)

No, but a second team in the most important hockey market in North America isn't too much to ask.

Because you know, Nashville, Atlanta, Miami and Phoenix are working out so well for Gary the Weasel's NHL.

    Typical American centricity.

No offence JR but thinking the GTA/Southern Ontario has the right to another franchise it typical Ontarian centricity.

Sue, you and I will never agree on this.

We are the single largest market in Canada with, what over 25% of the population.

SW Ontario and the GTA have more head offices than any other part of the country.

It's not called the Centre of the Universe for nothing. :)

And as I said before, SW Ontario and the GTA could support two more teams.

I wouldn't mind seeing a team in Quebec City.

I'm just curious, but when did you decide you were judge and jury on all things hockey.
I happen to agree with you on the whole sweater thing, but you can be pretty obnoxious when it comes to anything hockey.

JR, love ya. Like an older brother.
But hockey is a sport -- and I know metro New York has three -- that doesn't have a fan base to support two teams in one market. It doesn't. And no matter how you slice it, Hamilton is Toronto's market, for the simple fact it cuts off everything from the QEW southwest from Toronto and that's what people will watch, not the Hamilton Camps...

    Obnoxious?

I only pointed out a basic fact: the single largest hockey market in North America in terms of population, consumer interest, potential corporate backing and media following can easily support a second team.

    I'd say it's basic business.

If you can point to another market in North America that could support an NHL franchise more than SW Ontario, let me know.

And I love you as a younger brother (wait, that's not right).

SW Ontario would love nothing better than to see a regional team that goes straight up against the smug bastards at MLSE.

Look, I've been a Leafs fan for half a century but nothing--and I mean nothing--indicates that those outside of Toronto wouldn't support another team.

And as a Leafs fan, a whole bunch of us are sick of the corporatism of the Leafs organization.

    This is a no-brainer.

And there is no way you can compare this market to the New York hockey market.

The proper comparable would be the Yanks & the Mets in terms of draw, interest & revenue.

    Hahaha.

I love how this thread has devolved from me asking about unis to an intense debate on what to call them.

Thanks for keeping the thread going, though ;)

The Leafs are another version of the Cubs -- the only game in town, nothing is changing.
The Leafs as we know them ended as the sound of the last bagpipe faded at MLG... it aint changing, but the NHL is not giving a team to compete with Buffalo/Toronto because Bettman and the cronies KNOW while the market place could support it, the better money is to be the only game in town in places like Quebec City, Portland, Winnipeg or even, Nashville...
Now. Tell me where to send my check for the coffee crisp and McIntosh's
