Knowing where you work and have worked, why would you need heat?

It got down to 29 F here earlier this week, and we had a low of 32 another day. There is snow on the mountains, which are 13 miles from (albeit 3,000 feet above) my doorstep. It regularly gets down to low 40s in December-January, especially when I'm not leaving the office 'til 1 a.m.

(Yes, I was surprised it wasn't sunny and 75 all the time, too. I stand corrected now.)

It frequently got down into the teens at my previous place of employment, with occasional ice storms.

Hard to type when you can't feel your fingers.

Fuck. You were farther south than I am now, and it hasn't gotten below 30 here yet.

January was always when it got cold there, though, not Nov-Dec. Never seen a white Christmas in my life, except when I was about 5-6 years old, in Maryland.

Then, there was always a day of snow right around my birthday in February, usually coinciding with my season opener in baseball.

Give it a few weeks -- you'll freeze your ass off. :D

Other than no Christmas bonus, it's a good place to work. The company picks up the tab for the health insurance and prescription plan premiums. It's 10-15 minutes from home. I've been there long enough where I get 4 weeks paid vacation a year (keeping in mind that the first 10-11 years at the paper were part-time). I can deal with no Christmas bonus.

Fuck the United Way.. one of the most corrupt, topheavy "charities" around...

Want to give the right way? Hang on to the XX bucks you were going to give this weekend and wait until February, then take it to a local food shelter when all the Christmas giving has given out

Can't complain about our place. They did two buffet shifts, so us nightsiders were able to partake in fresh, warm food.

Count your blessings, Tiny Tim... it's a rarity...

I don't know if it's more depressing that some of the stuff some of our members have gone through, but this thread is a complete bummer.

The note about the lawyer getting a $9,000 bonus is almost enough to make one homicidal.

And this is while working for one of the so-called cheapest companies around. I'll count my blessings, indeed.

Old Boeing plant in Wichita, bought out by someone else, gave out $61,000 bonuses to everyone. Lot of crap gone on about wage cuts and stuff when the factory got sold off by Boeing, but for $61,000 ... damn, doubt anyone had their income cut that much.

I just know the very basics. Maybe someone else can expand. Every time I try to learn about it I stop at $61,000 and think what I'd do with it all.

I got a $25 gift card to Weis or $25 less than a part-timer got to Weis
