Upon further review I agree. My beef with Danica Patrick is the amount of media attention she's gotten without reaching victory lane yet, but I do believe she has a bright future in an extraordinarily difficult sport.

 

Think about how that sentence is phrased.

Now let's rewrite it to place the "beef" where it really belongs:

"Upon further review I agree. My beef is not with Danica Patrick at all but with us in the media who keep pressing the Easy Button by doing story after story on someone who has never reached victory lane yet. But I do believe she has a bright future in an extraordinarily difficult sport."

Db'ing myself for the second time today: Wie has been a modified reprise of the Beverly Klass story, starting at a bit older age and under similar pressures. So far Wie doesn't appear quite as wigged out as Bevo was. And yes, I absolutely DO feel sorry for a young woman with exceptional talent who has been thrown into a meatgrinder by a self-beclowning parent.

Resume meatgrinding.
