Saw "War Games" on TV the other night - a decent movie in the '80s, so I decided to watch it again. One of the bad-ass feds was Strickland from the "Back to the Future" trilogy.

And the son is Johnny Galecki, who played in "Roseanne" and stars in the sitcom "Big Bang Theory"

I would never in a million years realized it was him without being told.

I could swear Morgan Freeman plays an air traffic controller in Close Encounters. Not verifiable on IMDB or anywhere else as far as I know. He's onscreen for about 30 seconds.

Late movie on the local independent channel is Woody Harrelson and Kiefer Sutherland in "The Cowboy Way." Allison Janney, CJ from "The West Wing" is a police computer operator in a scene. Almost didn't recognize her.

She's also the woman who hosts the key party in "The Ice Storm."

    Obscurist bump!

Doubt anyone on here has ever watched, but from time to time I put in a DVD I have of Ballykissangel — something about all the Irish accents is very relaxing. Anyway, last night I do that and wake up and 4 a.m., can't get back to sleep. So, I wander over the computer to see what some of the actors are doing these days. Now, a few weeks ago, I had checked out a BBC modernization of Shakespeare plays called "Shakespeare Retold." Loved the "Taming of the Shrew" reboot so much I watched it four or five times. But until I checked imdb last night, I never realized that Father Clifford from Bally-k was Petruchio's friend, Harry. Didn't believe it after reading it, had to check pics online and even then it took a little while to believe.

Saw the video for Tom Petty's "Into the Great Wide Open" the other day for the first time in probably 15 years. Everyone knows Johnny Depp plays Eddie Rebel and Faye Dunaway plays his manager, but I never realized Gabrielle Anwar (Scent of a Woman, Burn Notice) played his girlfriend ...

Ballykissangel. (See above.) It was a BBC show from the 90s that got some traction in the states when BBC America and some PBS stations started airing it. Family fare, really, though over the first few seasons a main story line was about a priest who falls in love with the local publican, an atheist.
