We are supposed to go from mid 70s on Wednesday to highs in the low 40s Thursday and there is a chance of snow Thursday morning. That doesn't really bother me, in fact I think it would be really cool, but since it snows here once of every four years I am not looking forward to my wife having to drive home from work in snow with a bunch of idiot Texans that don't know how to drive in it.

Our warm temps aren't lasting much longer, either. It's supposed to be 71 tomorrow and then a cold front it coming through. They're calling for severe storms with damaging winds for Thursday, Friday and Saturday. No snow yet...

BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEF! Warm front rolling in. It is now only 13-below and it's shooting up to 11 ... yes ... I said ELEVEN!!!!!! ... on Sunday. I don't even care if it's a chinook and my flippin' head explodes. I just want some respite from this fuckin' cold snap!

Yeaaaaah, um OK, I know it is cold in Canady, but I moved to Texas where it is supposed to be warm and instead it is 29 degrees out right now and snowing, yeah, mmmkay. So, would someone please just go ahead and turn the thermostat back up to 70 degrees, mmmmmkay.

32 degrees and holding steady ... and every public school in the Metroplex is open. They might rue the day if that mess west of us makes a direct hit.

Called my dad in Oklahoma today, who was at home b/c the airport was closed to non-essential personnel.

Pretty glad I'm not slogging through that.

  8. I have heard this same bromide about weather every locale I've lived, and every local thinks it's somehow applicable only to their clime. Growing up in New England, I heard it first from a schoolteacher. I heard it when I moved to the South, and in the Midwest, California (?!) and here in Texas. IT'S WEATHER, PEOPLE! IT CHANGES EVERYWHERE! ('Cept maybe Miami.) ;D

How cold is it here? I walked out to move my wife's Toyota Camry. I hit the unlock button on the key fob and then pulled up on the door handle. It snapped off in my hand.

I got a flashlight and started looking at it. The whole assembly is made of plastic, which is why it snapped in the cold weather. So now my wife is pissed because she'll have to get in via the passenger side and crawl over the center console to drive it.

I'm seriously in the doghouse for the next few days until I get this fixed. Damn you, Mother Nature!!!

I don't think you get it. It is VERY TRUE for Calgary. Today, for example, started out around 10-below. By noon, it had shot up to 9-above. Within an hour, a north wind had blown in and it was back down to 5-below.
Yes, weather changes everywhere. But in the matter of an hour, the temperate here can fluctuate by 20 degrees Celsius.

We are supposed to get like 10 inches of snow here in the next 12 hours. Good times.

What is this snow of which you speak?

It is Dec. 1 and it is 65 degrees in New Jersey!

Will stay in the 60s throughout Friday but with heavy rain and maybe thunderstroms before a plunge into the 40s over the weekend.
