Homeland (not the grocery store)

Discussion in 'Anything goes' started by Matt Stephens, Aug 18, 2011.

  1. This was my last Homeland episode. It's boring, it's contrived, it's just not good and certainly not worth the money to subscribe to Showtime.

I'd be lying if I said I've been happy with this season so far, but it hasn't gotten close to the point where I'll stop watching.

Keep waiting for Mrs Brody to get naked again

I'll be honest, that's part of the reason I started watching. I had just watched her on V and they made some reference in one of the entertainment magazines to her having a couple nude scenes in the first couple episodes and that coincided with a free Showtime weekend.

At least this week's episode was entertaining, compared to the previous week's drek. And only about 40 minutes long, since I fast-forward through any scenes involving the daughter/wife.

Anytime the plot shifts to Dana and her psych-ward BF, the wife and I look at each other and try to do the one-raised-eyebrow thing that Morgan Saylor has turned into a tic/drinking game. But then instead of drinking or laughing, we moan, having to actually endure the scene.

Yeah, without Brody, I could give a shit about his family.

I think the show will be fine if it finds away to get Carrie and Brody interacting again. I think that's a big reason why the show has been lacking this season.

Homeland got green lighted for Season 4 today.

I tend to hate watch this show, but I still watch. Showtime has plenty of other good shows -- Masters of Sex, Shameless, House of Lies come to mind -- so this isn't the end-all show for me keeping it.

I'm guessing she isn't getting naked this season since she is pregnant.

It does require a suspension of disbelief, BUT, I'm hoping the twist that Carrie and Saul are working deep, deep undercover is a way to get the show back to intrigue and espionage. We can get bad marriages, rebellious kids and funky affairs on many other shows. To bad the Dana storyline is beyond superfluous. I really like the actress.

I think may Dal Adar has turned and that will be part of why Saul and Carrie are so deep undercover.

I've read things where they describe the actress who plays the daughter as the most hatred character on TV. I'm not sure she's that bad, but when you have actors who are as gifted as Danes and Patinkin and Damian Lewis, I want more of them, not side stories that I don't give a shit about regarding his daughter.

I don't think anyone is criticizing the actress. Most seem to go out of their way to praise Morgan Saylor. And I agree, I think she's very good. Her storyline is just trite and her character (not her) is unlikeable without being particularly interesting.
