Definitely the best episode of the season.

The wife and I tend to fall in love with series like this (House of Cards, Dexter, Weeds, Californication, etc.) at first blush and then get bored with them; we gave up on True Blood many seasons ago, for example. This Homeland episode, which we just watched tonight, will keep us on board for the rest of the season. But they need to have some movement with Brody because Carrie easily can be an annoying character.

Poor Saul. Shot down for the job, and his wife's fucking another dude. That's one shitty day.

I feel the same way. Carrie really, really annoys me. I'd much rather see Brodie's wife ...

And Saul has to be one of the toughest characters I've seen. The way he just walked by his wife and the other guy just blew my mind.

I'm surprised Carrie doesn't annoy me, but she doesn't. I give Danes credit for being able to walk that line.

I've never seen Patinkin in any movie or show where he's not incredible. He plays Saul perfectly.

The acting Director of the CIA is gone for the day and some straner, a Middle Eastern looking guy is having dinner at his house, with Saul's wife and no one from the CIA has a clue?

No security at his house? Not a driver?

Does Saul's wife turn out to be related to the Iranian who is this season's bad guy?

Since this tangent was introduced, I will go with it.

WhyTF are they doing parodies of MA-rated TV shows?
    What audience is this for?
Kids? No, because they don't watch the show.
Parents? Yeah, cause you really need to do this to get parents to go "Hmmm, I should check out this Sesame St. show...I've never heard of it."
    What a waste of time.

I thought she was of Middle Eastern descent, so the guy's appearance didn't really catch my attention.

I'll bet the new CIA director is dead by the end of the season... Just a prediction...

I hope he isn't a secret spy and that his battles with Saul are not good vs. evil, but something which is more gray.

And I agree that it is ridiculous that the spouse of the acting director of the CIA , only months removed from a terrorist attack on his HQ can just have random guests over to their house without extensive security checks. It was a great emotional scene, but silly at the same time.

Feel like we're losing steam from F. Murray Abraham's character. Thought he was a pretty dangerous guy when he debuted but now looking like a mere political opportunist/hack.

Good to see Saul finally man-up for a split-second.

Also, for once Dana character/subplot didn't annoy us. She's right, actually -- the whole bunch of leftover Brodys ought to relocate and go by Mom's maiden name. It'd be like being an "Oswald" now.

The previews briefly hinted that our new Iranian "asset" may not be long for the show, and perhaps another mole may be afoot.

And yes, refreshing to finally see Dana in a believable (and brief) sequence, and in seeing Saul lose his reserve and smack our new Iranian asset. The double murder scene was pretty gruesome.

Murder with the broken bottle was the most gruesome moment of the whole series, and it was filmed perfectly. He breaks the bottle. He advances toward her, no hesitation. She's on the ground, pleading. She's using her hands, trying to ward him off; it works for a few seconds. Then he stabs her. Again, again, again, again, again.

Blood everywhere. The controlled fury only a family betrayal can bring about.

    Perfect.
