Homeland (not the grocery store)

Clark Johnson has directed a couple of episodes this season. He directed quite a few The Wire episodes too.

My favorite line from last night: "The senator somehow managed to lock himself in the conference room. Have facilities get him out."

The show aspires to mediocrity now. I think this season has been boring, repetitive and, worst of all, nowhere near as smart as that great run to start the first season.

I saw some tweets from one of the TV sites that seemed to imply that the ratings for Homeland were not very good. I find that a little difficult to believe with the amount of hype it gets.

I wonder in the world of On Demand and apps like HBO Go how important weekly ratings are for a premium cable network. I haven't liked this season, and usually watch a few days later, but I am going to watch it all at some point. Since there are no commercials to fast forward through, do they care as much about non-live viewing?

I think they track live viewing and on demand. That's the thing with some of the shows like this, they may not get great ratings, but they have a loyal following, even if they don't watch it the night it was on. Shows like this also do really well on Netflix and in DVD sales.

Just caught this week's ep. Anyone else expecting the plane to explode en route?

Saul's wife has me craving more Dana to handle the immature, needy extraneous subplot chores.

And her boy toy's latest maneuver is a reminder of how sloppily he was plopped into things in the first place, the CIA acting director's wife facing no scrutiny over her Middle Eastern-looking "friend."

Brody? Meh. I've moved on. I want more Quinn and more Senator Painintheass playing political/espionage chess with Saul.

This shreds any credibility the show had left. And how irrational is Carrie to try and prevent that shooting only to get shot. Abortion by cop?

We just started watching. We've seen the first two episodes of the series.
I like it, but I can't help wishing I didn't know what was going on with the guy. Seems like, at least this early in the series, I'd rather be wondering if Claire Danes is right or wrong about him.

The show would be a bit more interesting if Carrie were wrong about something. In her efforts to show Brody were innocent it is revealed that he is guilty, Carrie is wrong about him and does she follow her head or heart?

What's the timeframe between the end of last season and the beginning of this season? I'm assuming Carrie is pregnant with Brody's kid otherwise why would they bother?

Making Carrie pregnant is just a bad idea across the board.

I think they picked up the story from last season right where they left it.
