This is what happens when certain folks write about baseball only for four weeks in October.
Having a very good bullpen is raised as some blinding revelation on the road to Truth.
As if every other team is just skimping by on spare parts.

A.J. Burnett back to the Pirates for 1 year, $8.5 million:

Heyman also reports Marlins-Stanton deal nearly done. Would be 13 years, $325 million, with no trade and opt-out.

I await oop's word on whether signing him shows that the Pirates don't care, or letting him go next year shows that the Pirates don't care.

Can the Pirates afford the risk?

That they are settling for downgrades like Cervelli and Burnett shows once again that ownership only cares enough to take the cheap route every time.

Apparently, "some guy" had this long before Heyman or Rosenthal.

I wouldn't give any player this contract. Not one of them. I wouldn't give this contract to the illegitimate love child of Babe Ruth and Ted fuckin' Williams. If the player can get it from someone else, god bless 'em.

And Kluber has never been as good at missing bats or inducing outs on balls in play as he was this year, so I guess that doesn't count, either.

Hernandez pitched better this season, therefore he got more people out. He has done it before. His numbers (including the batting average against) were comparable in his Cy Young season.

Again, your notion is unpopular because it is wrong. You think the numbers back it up, but they do not.

Stanton is a generational talent who hits 450-foot home runs. He is a true marvel and deserves bigtime money.

I would go 10 years. But is it correct this is 13? That's cray.

Who's the kid's source? That's going to be a funny story when *those* details emerge.

How long before Giancarlo is a Yankee?

I assume this means Stanton feels differently about the Marlins' commitment to winning than when he was tweeting about the Marlins' lack of commitment to winning.
