They're trying to have their cake and eat it too, essentially. It's not the greatest move in the world, but Markakis isn't B. J. Upton 2.0. I've got the feeling Markakis will be forever linked to Jason Heyward to Brave fans for years to come as the guy who took the place where the Hall of Famer was.

At least Markakis hits 104 points higher in the playoffs (even if it is just .258).

Subhead on that last link is "Be weary of what you read on Twitter."

    Already there.

As in "Heyward truly blossomed as soon as he encountered new surroundings,"

The list of Hall of Famers who "blossom" into stars after their fifth season is a hell of a lot shorter than the list of guys who start their careers seemingly destined for greatness and then flame out.

Top of my head, Robin Yount is about the only one I can think of.

And I don't see Heyward hanging around long enough to get 3,000 hits.

    EDIT: Maybe Joe Morgan.

Everyone else was great more or less immediately and stayed that way.

And Yount debuted as a teen.
Heyward is a physical specimen who plays like Claudell Washington, if that.

I didn't wake up expecting to have memories of Claudell Washington jarred from my memory.
