I feel like the Cubs aren't doing enough to guarantee an improved offense. They're relying on young talent, and those guys aren't always on fire out of the gate. If Soler and Baez don't produce, the offense won't be much better than it was in 2014. In looking at the players' numbers for 2014, I was surprised to see that Valbuena has a nice OBP. I guess he draws a lot of walks. If he can improve his batting average and power a bit, his OPS will skyrocket.

Rumor has it they might be inquiring with the Braves about Justin Upton, but not sure they'd come off the prospects it would take to get him (Upton also has the Cubs on his no-trade list, but he'd probably waive that considering the current shape of the organization).

It's baseball. There's no such thing as guarantees.

Usually when a guy has a no-trade list like that, he puts on the big-market teams to be able to use it as leverage for a contract extension if they try to trade for him. But there've been whispers in the past that Upton legitimately doesn't want to play for the Cubs for whatever reason.

@Buster_ESPN: The Dodgers have acquired shortstop Jimmy Rollins from the Phillies.

Who is more the fool? LTL for failing so miserably to understand my point or you for following him?

You, on the other hand, do it quite often.

I thought this was the 2014-2015 Hot Stove Thread. Not the Days of our Lives thread.

Dee Gordon to the Marlins, along with Dan Haren, who will likely choose retirement over playing on the east coast again.
