Agree on Span. He'll be gone after this year whether in a trade or letting him walk. Clippard is drawing a ton of interest now. Sounds like a decent chance he gets traded before the weekend is over.

Strasburg, Harper, and Rendon will all likely hit free agency in a few years, so worrying about them right now is pointless.

We're about to find out how much the Nats think of their two big-time pitching prospects.

Nightengale has the full details on the Kemp trade:

    http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2014/12/11/matt-kemp-trade-dodgers-padres/20234963/

Padres gets Kemp, catcher Tim Federowicz

Dodgers get catcher Yasmani Grandal, pitcher Joe Wieland, at least one prospect

I wouldn't be surprised if Giolito made the big team out of spring training -- his stuff is that dominant -- except for the whole service time thing.

More likely he's a September call-up, and in the rotation in '16.

I'm just hoping Giolito doesn't skip high-A next season and go straight to AA. I wouldn't mind driving down the street to see him pitch. But yeah, he won't make the big club out of ST, but he's definitely got a shot for a Sept call-up. Interested to see him at full strength with no limitations this year. Dude only got 98 innings last year.

For as inexperienced as he is, both times I've seen him he made the opposing lineup look like a bunch of 9-year-olds.

He's apparently working his ass off to perfect his change. If that happens, I'm calling it here: Better than Strasburg.

Who am I kidding? Even if he's assigned to Harrisburg, I'll still go watch him. I made the trek up to Altoona for Strasburg's debut in 2010.

Certainly worth the gas money, in both cases.

Nats fans, I'm dreaming here, but what would you think of a deal with the Royals sending Holland and Infante for Zimmermann?

Are the Royals cool with paying $16.5M for Z'nn next year and $150M for the next 6?

Probably not. Like I said, I'm dreaming, but I'm imagining leasing him for a year and going all in on getting back to the World Series and winning it next year.

    Porcello and Cespedes swapped.

So the Red Sox essentially swapped Jon Lester for two months of Cespedes and a year of Rick Porcello? Yikes.
