Are the Giants the dumbest team in baseball -- non-cheap-ass-owner division?

Yes. If you need proof, look at the Zito deal.

I agree with you that Angelos won't get a better deal, but he's so arrogant and stupid that he passes on deals that can improve the Orioles' future. As bad as Steinbrenner was in the 1970s and 80s, he tried to improve the Yankees on-field product. Angelos stepped into a great baseball market and proceeded to systematically kill any enthusiasm for his product.

[blue]So how come Barry Bonds didn't go to the winter meetings like last year to be wooed by teams?

    1. It has been reported that L.A. won't part with Broxton. But as a lifetime O's fan. if they can get those three plus one more player for Bedard, then do it.
    2. If the O's can't re-sign Bedard and don't trade him, then it's proof that Angelos hasn't truly turned the keys over to McPhail.

    Or the Bonds deal.

Only reason the Giants re-signed BALCO Barry last year was that they were turned down by Soriano and Carlos Lee, and recognized that they needed Bonds to pack Phone Company Park. Plus, there wasn't a market for Bonds other than San Francisco.

On what planet was the Bonds deal bad?

He made them relevant again when he signed there after the 1992 season. He was still a great (if chemically aided) player for most of the four-year deal he signed after teh 2002 season. And last year...they were stuck with each other for the payoff. the Giants were going to finish dead last with or without him. they may as well have exploited his fat-headed pursuit of the home run record for every last cent.
