Well, maybe the Bucs are working on a package including Salas and Roberts for Haren?

Do I really need to color that blue?

Supposedly the Pirates have some interest, but they did just dump $6 million in salary, so I guess they aren't real high on adding salary.

Inge is just crappy enough to be the Pirates' kind of guy, so maybe they will take him off Detroit's hands. Hell, maybe they can give the Tigers Ian Snell or Jason Bay in exchange.

that exploding sound you just heard was the Yankees' hopes for 2008. Ken Rosenthal reports they are nearing agreement with LaTroy Hawkins on a one-year deal:

And Armchair_QB and Zeke wonder why they just sprung wood.

This is a great idea: Take a guy who has imploded in every pressure situation he's ever been placed in--and has barked at reporters in Chicago to boot--and put him in New York. Pop some popcorn kiddies.

Jeebus, TheTroy couldn't hack the pressure in Minnesota or Chicago, and he's going to pitch in the Bronx?

I can't wait until the first time he has to pitch in Fenway with the game on the line, and Ortiz really gets into one of those laundry-line 99mph fastballs.

    Can't wait.

Or both. Maybe the Tigers can return Chris Shelton, while they're at it.

Too late. They just sent him to the Rangers.

Nice work Agnes. Run along and join the field hockey team now. :D :D :D

They couldn't re-sign Vizcaino so they sign Hawkins? What the fuck? I remember everytime Hawkins would come in to a game against the Yankees and I would get excited because that meant the Yankees were about to rally.

I don't care what people say about Inge. I've been to SEVERAL Tigers games throughout the past two seasons and every time I've seen them play live Inge has done something clutch from the ninth spot of the order.

Anyway, maybe Hank can answer me this: Are the Tigers thinking of sending Willis and Inge and whoever else to Minny for Santana? A friend of mine in the Detroit area called me with this rumour yesterday.

Apparently Willis is signed through 2009 and right now fits Minny's payroll. And, I've heard Illitch will spend this off-season, so maybe Santana with a contract might be doable?

I don't see it. I haven't heard it. Just wonder what else has been heard in those parts.

If they get Santana, then the Tigers are my pick for 2008 World Series champions.

Oh God yes. Thing is, this deal (although I haven't heard it or read it reported anywhere) sort of makes sense.

If you want to call Marino Salas a prospect (and I never have) then he's got to make the big club this year. He's getting too old to keep in the minors. He's got a good fastball, but it's time to put up or shutup.

And no, he isn't related to Marc Salas.
