Kinda funny to see the guy that was "untouchable" and "the future" for the longest time eventually get dealt within the division for two spare parts.

Mets better hope he doesn't get his head on straight in DC.

They did sign Billy Wagner after he pitched for the Phillies. In 2005, Wagner was lights out against the Mets (but not the Astros), with six games pitched, eight strikeouts, and no hits.

Given the Nats kicked the Mets' asses in the final two weeks, maybe Minaya thought D.C. the best place to go for help?

Something tells me the Nats' kicking of the Mets' asses didn't end in October.

In his last three games against the Mets, Church did hit 6-for-10 with three runs scored, three doubles, a home run, and eight RBIs.

Yeah, the more I look at this...the more it's WTF?

Schneider is 31 and his stats are tailing downward and Church just had his first 400 AB season at age 28.

Milledge went from the centerpiece of a deal for a upper-rotation pitcher to getting swapped for two replacement-level players. He's a shithead of the highest order, but this is a no-brainer for the Nats. If he continues to fuck up, they'll still get more for him than they gave up.

Omar is just not good at all at his job. Maybe he's paying the Nats back for stripping the farm bare in 2002.

Tomas Perez had a good weekend once. Steve Jeltz could string together a good game or two.

Even if Milledge is a complete flop, it's STILL a good trade for the Nats. Because anytime you can get a guy with his ceiling (or his alleged ceiling) for two guys you can replace in a minute and a half, you do it.

Is this the first deal Minaya has made that didn't bring back a Latin player?

    Just asking.

IS he still a shithead? Or is that carryover? I thought I saw somewhere in an NY paper that he learned his lessons and all that jazz?

He's not quite as bad as HB made it sound but he still has some attitude problems and there were a number of Mets vets who did not like hm.

Even if he's a jackass of the HIGHEST order, it's still a good deal for the Nats. You take your chances that you can straighten him out.

When you're the fourth- or fifth-best team in your division, you err on the side of talent, IMO.

They got Dougie Consonant from the Red Sox. He got Kaz Ishii from the Dodgers, as well as Ruben Gotay.
