This guy on the Daily News' forum don't much like it for the Mets:

This trade is an absolute joke and I am outraged! Milledge is going to haunt Minaya and the Mets for a very long time. This deal is as bad as the Kazmir for Zambrano deal. Minaya has no clue - "you know what Im saying?" I think I am going to puke!

NYPost forum users don't much like either, except for one obvious exception:

wow... even i wouldn't have made a trade this obviously terrible.

The Nationals must be smoking crack.

  8. Schneider and Church aren't bad players, but if you give up Milledge, you better get an arm or two for him, and Omar Minaya didn't do that. The NL East, with the exception of the Fishwrapped should be a very exciting division in '08.

Big difference between the Kazmir and Milledge deals, of course, being that Kazmir had limited major-league experience and Milledge has been on the roster for the better part of a couple years now.

The crime isn't that Milledge is a better player than Church -- he isn't. It's that they held onto to him so long when they could have gotten the starter that they needed last year.

Bingo. One of our Mets fans in here is on assault/self-inflicted-damage watch.

I believe at one point the Nats offered Cordero for Milledge and were told to fuck off.
