  1. I think L-Millz with turn into a pretty decent baseball player if he gets his head on straight, but they Mets can deal without him. But I guess he wasn't someone Billy Beane wanted in any trades concerning Haren or Blanton. The Mets do need to solve that rightfield problem. If they somehow don't trade Gomez, they need to give him a legitimate shot early in spring training and see what happens. If he doesn't pan out right away, then you put in Church.

Tigers are courting LaTroy Hawkins with a multi year deal.

Why do I get the feeling this will be Jose Mesa II?

    You don't want TheTroy.

Cubs fans will back me up on this.

    Yea I know.

If I remember this stat right, he had nine save opportunities last year and didn't record one save.

That's pretty fucking hard to do now.

I'm told Milledge wasn't respected in the clubhouse or the manager's office, so from the Mets standpoint, the trade wasn't bad. Schneider gives them someone who can throw and Church could finish '08 with better numbers than Milledge. That will be something to watch.

Estrada will not be on the Mets roster.

Lastings is also 22 or 23.

I would not stick a fork in him yet, but I would not make him an all-star yet either.

Church is 28, so his best year could have been last year is you buy the 27-is-the-career-year theory.

Still, to trade Milledge for beads and trinkets instead of as a little chip in a much larger (Santana and friends) deal? Is he in the Mitchell report or something?

Goofy trade. I fully understand the "doesn't fit our team" concept, but still, there had to be people out there with a little more to offer

I'm constantly amazed at how young Scott Kazmir is:

    Garza was born 11/11/83
    Kazmir was born 1/24/84
