I read a rumor (translation, not a source I trust) that this was basically the Marlins using the Tigers to put pressure on the Angels to make a deal for Cabrera. It seems very unlikely the Tigers are going to trade Maybin.

Sounds about right given all the bullshit the Marlins have already pulled in the negotiations with the Angels and other teams. If sources on the Angels and Giants are to be believed, Florida has been agreeing to terms, then changing their minds and asking for more.

  2. Yeah, I found that pretty funny, especially considering last year the Angels and Orioles agreed to a deal that would've sent Ervin Santana and Erick Aybar to the O's for Tejada. That deal was agreed on by the GM's, but Angelos nixed it.
Weaver and Wood is a huge step up from Santana and Aybar, considering Tejada's season this year. Big balls on the Orioles.

They're saying this is a done deal.

I like Dayton Moore (Royals GM), but this leaves me scratching my head.

Guillen is a cancer, and is about to be suspended 50 games for steroid use. Plus, 27 HR in most places translates to about 22 in Kauffman Stadium.

If they're going to gamble, they should have gambled on Andruw Jones.

That stuff about a suspension is just speculation, unless you have some great inside info.

And since when is Kauffman Stadium a tough place to hit homers? Guillen is going from a much tougher home run park, Safeco.

I think it is too much money as well, but can't say I agree with some of your reasoning there.

Harley, I'd be shocked if Guillen gets suspended. He hasn't flunked a test. He's just been tabbed as a guy who got the shit. Guys can do what they want. Only when they get caught do the powers that be get all high and mighty.

Will buckdub gain an affinity for Will Ohman's dick just as A_QB did?

All I know is, I'm glad the Royals got him. They needed another bat in that lineup and got one.

It seems to me that they already have them from the headline...

"Tigers set to acquire Cabrera, Willis from Tigers"

Peter Gammons just said it's going to happen tonite.

Tigers giving up Andrew Miller, who I'd rather have than Dontrelle.

And Cameron Maybin, supposedly one of the great prospects of the decade. They brought him up for five weeks and pulled the plug.

Remember this in 2012, when the Tigers are 41-121 again.
