4:49 Jayson Stark says the Angels and Twins are talking Santana; 5:55 Buster Olney says the Angels deny interest in Santana.

5:55 p.m., from Buster Olney • Both the Diamondbacks and Dodgers have talked to the A's about Dan Haren. Oakland wantd young pitching in return for the ace.

    • The Angels are denying that they're in on Johan Santana.

    4:49 p.m., from Jayson Stark
    • The Twins and Angels continue to talk about a Johan Santana trade. Many of the same players mentioned in the Miguel Cabrera sweepstakes -- Howie Kendrick, Brandan Wood, Nick Adenhart, and possibly Jeff Mathis or Reggie Willits -- would be included in a package for Santana.

    • It is believed that the Angels haven't talked with the Marlins since last night, and Miguel Cabrera is off their radar screen -- at least for now.

Might as well just hand the AL Central to the Tigers next year with this deal.

You know, I like the Tigers, but that's a little hasty. There are a few solid teams in the AL Central.

I don't know. Cabrera's a stud if he's lost the weight, but Willis and his 5.18 ERA and 146-87 K-BB ratio isn't going to strike much fear into the rest of the AL.

With the move to a pitcher's park, it should help Willis out.

The Marlins should be contracted today.

Not so sure about that. Cabrera will make a difference right now, and prospects are prospects. The Angels waited for Brandon Wood, Howie Kendrick and Kendry Morales to deliver on promise for years, and it's yet to come. I would rather have a sure thing.

And it's not like the Tigers' farm system is bare. They just stole the No. 1-rated player from this past draft at the No. 25 (or so) spot -- they're still investing in prospects and building from the inside-out.

The park effect should be negated by moving to the AL.

As of right now, I don't think Willis would even be one of the top five lefthanded pitchers in his own division.

Put me down as one of the folks who think Willis will get hammered in the AL. Hammered.

Dolphin Stadium was only a slightly better hitters park in 2007 than Comerica.

But Comerica is widely known as a pitchers park.

Gammons says it's a done deal, with Cabera and Willis to Detroit for six players.
