Truthfully, that makes the most sense.

I agree, they have the richest owner in baseball, opening a new park in 2009 it's time for them to open the checkbook.

.....and how is Miami and all of South Florida a "small market"

Because poor little Jeff Loria is stomping his feet because they won't give him a new stadium.

Even though I'd love to see Santana in pinstripes, I really hope that someone steals Pohlad's checkbook, gives the Twins' GM the green light and resigns Santana for the next 5-6 years. If Santana goes, Nathan will be soon to follow and the Twins won't be able to fill their new park when it opens.

I'll believe it when it happens. For now, I remain extremely skeptical.

This confirms one of two things: after the Santana non-trade and the Miggy-Dontrelle deal, writers are ridiculously bored or the Brian Sabean & the rest of the Giants front office have completely lost their minds.

Why in the world would the Giants say that Cain was off-limits to the Blue Jays in the pursuit of Alex Rios, but then turn around and offer him for Matsui? No. Effing. Way.

The key points from Forbes today on their sports richest owners series:

    Carl Pohlad
    Net Worth: $3.1 billion
    Age: 92

Pohlad could be revered as a hero in Minnesota sports lore forever. Except he continues to hoard like he can take his money with him when he could potentially die any day.
