To be completely accurate, USM's QB was recruited first by Corky Palmer to play baseball, then was invited to walk on the football team when Fedora got a look at his arm. But your point does stand, nobody wins at USM without recruiting heavily in Mobile and New Orleans.

Which is why I think Fedora to UM would be a good fit. There's no question that the State of Mississippi has talent. I think Fedora could be the coach to blend that talent, and talent from other areas, into a winning unit.
In defense of Nutt, he did well in the beginning but those weren't his kids. And the ones he did recruit, well, sucked for the most part.

Maybe we should change the title since this has become the all purpose coaching changes thread.

Kind of a weird year, outside of Kevin Sumerlin, I can't think of many coaches who seem primed to move up.

I read something in the Cleveland paper that said the main candidates for the OSU job were Meyer, Pelini, and Fickell.

Do people think Sherman is out at A&M?

My college roommate works in the Kansas athletic department and has to hit up some of the big donors for money. His job isn't football related, but talks to them about it and he says two things:

1.) The big-money guys want Gill gone.
2.) Their top choices for a replacement are Leach and Fedora, in that order. He's not sure if the chancellor would sign off on Leach, but a few of the boosters are willing to throw major money his way if he'd come.

Sherman will be fired. KSU game sealed that deal.

Ben, now let's do the credit where credit is due thing, here.

National Champions in 1940 and then again in 1941.

National Champions in 1960, and tied for Big Ten Championship in 1967, which was a decent (not truely great, but not suck city) era as well for Minnesota.

I'm for this! Foggie was a great OC.

I see Sid has something online saying Mason has told friends he wants to coach again and that Maturi did receive a call from New Mexico asking about Mason.

I'm surprised he wants back in. He's past 60 now and appears to have done well for himself outside of football.

He could still be the coach at Minnesota if he wanted to. He paved the way for what came down.

Looks like Ole Miss will be looking for a new mascot, too.

I hope this dipshit student was fired at the next TV timeout. On Sunday, I spoke with my aunt, who is the Bama cheerleading director, who told me that if any of her Big Als pulled a stunt like this, they'd be chased off at halftime.

Plus he was awesome in his recurring role on "Coach."

Pat Hill could be available to coach at New Mexico by the end of this season. Defensive coordinator quit midseason and it's a program with the wheels totally falling off.
