Ugh. A fade. As a 49ers fan I hope I never see them throw another one.

Piggybacking on that, I wonder if Carroll would have gone against conventional wisdom at the end of the game if the attempt to score at the end of the first half hadn't succeeded. They got the ball with 31 seconds left, marched 80 yards in 29 seconds for the TD. If that pass wasn't caught, by the end would Carroll and Co. have thought "You know, we tried something different once tonight and it backfired. Let's go conventional this time and run it" instead of throwing it? If/then, etc.

Butler made a play for the ages.

Brady played his game for the ages, with a winning TD drive to boot. He was the MVP.

I thought Belichick baited the throw by not calling the timeout after the Lynch run.
If he calls TO, Seattle has an open playbook. Run or pass is on the table on every play because the Patriots have established they're going to stop the clock. No timeout, it's clear they're playing defense so they're going to force Seattle to pass it at least twice. If SEA ran on second and didn't get in, they call a timeout and are almost forced into passing on third down because if they run and don't stop the clock, ballgame.
Also, and take this source for what it is, one of the Barstool Sports guys said he was at the party with Patricia and they sent the defensive package out disguised as a goal-line set with the three CBs. They had 3 DLs, 4 LBs and one safety, IIRC. They were hoping Seattle would throw because it was easier to defend than the pass.

Yes, she is the women's lacrosse coach at Wesleyan, Bill's alma mater, hers, and for that matter mine.

Am I the only one who thought Butler committed pass interference on the play?
