How can baseball dinosaurs so consistently get Moneyball wrong?

So why has no major market club hired Beane?

That is the question I pose to all parties.

Well, the fact that he is a part owner of the A's is probably one consideration there.

Yep. The Red Sox tried like hell to hire him in '01 or '02, in fact I think he might have taken the job for a moment before he reversed course. His comments have been that the one time in his life he did something for the money was going pro instead of going to Stanford, and it was the worst decision he ever made. And once he got part-ownership of the team, it took him out of the range any team would pay for a G.M. salary.

Sox and Mets went after him HARD. Maybe he didn't leave for ego reasons or something else. Seemed like a few people when after guys who worked under him.

I don't get why anyone would want to see a movie about a team that never won anything that mattered. Those late 90s Yankees teams would make a better movie.

Who would you cast as Derek Jeter?

Riggins. At least then Minka would be satisfied.

I think the only one that can play Jeter is...Jeter :)

Ray Oyler would probably be a good approximation right now.

And the Twins have won a bunch of division titles, too, (more recently, in fact) with equally limited resources. Their GM doesn't claim he re-invented the wheel. He just does his job.
