I learned this today.

There are 108 public Research 1 level universities in the United States. Oregon State is the only one with 28 consecutive years of fall-over-fall enrollment growth. In other words, fall enrollment has grown every single year since 1996.

 

Oddly enough, I enrolled at Oregon State in 1996. I guess I made it cool. It should also be noted that 1997 marked Mike Riley's first year in Corvallis, the football program stopped being a national joke and they rebuilt the stadium in that span. And for the record, Oregon State isn't just the largest university in the state, it has a strong e-campus program and a satellite campus in Bend. And is more distinguished than Oregon, which somehow has the Assoc. of American Universities membership despite having only a fraction of federal research dollars that OSU has, no engineering school (which OSU has) and no Nobel prize wins.
