I would greatly doubt that moment was "shoehorned" at all. They planned last season out with this season in mind. And callbacks and flashbacks are everything on this show.

Is that possible? They were renewed/agreed to season 9 in January and the Final Page aired before Christmas

CBS orders HIMYM spin-off from Thomas/Bays: How I Met Your Dad.

However, this will not include any characters from this particular show, not even the mother. Completely new set of characters, except meeting your perfect significant other from the female perspective.

    Meh.

can't ted just be at the train station by himself because he's in a hurry to move to chicago while marshall and lily are staying at the hotel the night of the wedding like most people would?

Oh good. If they rush this into production for the 2014 fall season, we might be able to get a conclusion to that plot point by 2023.

Much like "That 80's Show"...it will last all of 13 episodes.

I read an interview that basically said they were confident they'd get Season 9 but left an out in vase they didn't. I think the ending probably would have been ridiculously rushed if they hadn't been given this season.

Nothing about this show could be considered rushed

I was personally emotionally satisfied with Ted letting Robin go as the best bro to Barney in that limo in the final page. I don't feel like I need additional backstory or emotion on top of that through Marshall telling Ted to go after her again in the flashback. The emotion of that in this last episode was well executed but felt repetitive because I felt done with that story at that point in the limo.

Yes, hi, CBS? I'd like more Wayne Brady and Neil Patrick Harris musical numbers please.
