My guess is that it was The Captain that picked her up. But I like JRoyal's thought as well.

Before, all we knew was that corporate guy broke Barney's heart by stealing his girlfriend, and Barney decided to become like him because those were the guys that got the girl or whatever.

It was a good episode. Donna Bowman sums up why I've liked this season so much perfectly in her review: http://www.avclub.com/review/unpause-107118

Perhaps I was reading too much into Barney loosening his tie and unbuttoning his collar, but I took that to mean he was done with suiting up. That's what I meant his persona being a lie. It was like he was switching it off right then.

I've never really cared for Lilly as a character.

And I really liked what Marshall did. She broke up with him and moved to the other side of the country. He took her back.
She got herself under a giant pile of credit card debt. Marshall changes his life, for her.

Lilly has been written as an incredibly selfish character.

Don't forget the time that she nearly left him at his party so she could go on a vacation. And the whole "I sometimes hate being a mother" admission.

In the early years, most mothers who are honest would say that. It's a common emotion, esp. when postpartum depression sets in bad.

I feel like you're saying "character" when you mean "person." She's a self-centered bitch, but she's a very central part to what works about the show.

I like it but I don't really understand the tie-in with showing us the pregnancy and the kids names, other than they were just spoiled at a convention and people have been demanding more mother.

I guess its the 2 am rule? Felt like it was missing a "Kids this is blah blah blah" there at the beginning but considering how much better it was than previous weeks I probably shouldn't pick nits.

And her reaction to Marshall's decision is very much in character. She certainly has a right to be angry and he could have handled it better, but it sure seems like it was the best decision for their family.

This show has really become a Rohrschach test, I guess, because I would put last night's episode as the best this season and best in a while. The Barney truth-telling was very funny and the Lily-Marshall fight was very real, perhaps uncomfortably so.

I agree that it was among the best this season, if not the best. It just isn't at the level the show used to be.
