How he finally met the mother (Season 9)

There was an obvious time lapse. She is wearing her funeral dress when she goes back to the apartment.

 

Yeah, she left the gift sitting there the whole time as she was grieving and then finally opened it after the funeral.

 

So, everybody who said the mother would be the consolation prize for Ted not getting Robin was wrong. It's Ted who is the consolation prize!

Speaking of theories people have posted about the show, if the one about the mother being dead and Ted is telling his kids the story after she dies is true, I may end up hating the writes of this show more than I hate Joe Quesada for "One More Day" (It's a comic book thing for those who have no idea what I'm talking about.)

 

That's the first thing I thought, the show really is 'How I Met My Silver Medal'

 

All sarcasm aside, though, The Mother and Ted are perfect for each other.

 

I think the signs were spelled differently.

They have done a good job with her this year, making her appealing in general and showing how she is a good fit for Ted. But we also had years of Ted and Robin, which makes me think they would have been much better served by giving us most, if not all, of a full season of Ted and the mother.

 

I easily could have missed that.

 

... or the boyfriend was a chronic masturbator.

 

Well, I would hope the writers of the show are competent enough to write a character that's perfect for Ted given that we have nine years of them telling us all the things he's looking for in the mother.

Not a knock on the mother at all as I said I think she's been great and she's very likable but they'd have to try pretty hard to screw it up enough to make us think she's not a fit for him.

 

I have wandered back into the show as it begins the bell lap. I thought the latest episode was wonderful.

What a great ensemble.
