I'm guessing sometime in September when we sit down on Monday night and see it's not on the DVR.

Or April. The series finale is airing March 31.

  3. Yeah, I'm not going to hand out any gold stars for "trying something." Plenty of shows have tried something and failed.

I'll miss the show when it's gone because it's been something I've watched for a long time. I'll miss the early/middle seasons when it was at its best. But, save for a couple of episodes, when I get nostalgic for it and want to watch reruns on FX or wherever, I very likely won't be watching much from this last season. Or the one before it.

It would have been interesting to see how Cheers would have been reviewed on a week-to-week basis had the Sepinwall-style of hyper recap analysis existed back then.

Sam and Diane, get the fuck over yourselves already!

How in the hell could Carla afford a house? What's she make, $30K?

Like Kevin McHale is ever going to risk his ass playing charity basketball in the middle of the night.

If the show were consistently funny, nobody would complain about the suspension of belief.

Oh, you need to look back through the TV thread. They most certainly would. ;)

I'll never understand people who post on a dedicated thread about something they don't like.

If you don't think it's funny or good or whatever, watch something else and then post about that.

I don't know. The give-and-take has some appeal, too.

If there's no possibility for negative criticism, then the positive observations lose their impact.

A good bit of the negativity on this thread comes from the long-term fans. I've also watched the show since the beginning. I remember how good it can be and I stuck with through a good bit of mediocrity in part because I was hoping for a strong ending. There have been some very good moments, with this last episode as the highlight of the final season, but there has also been too much meandering filler this season.
