Agreed. I want to see the unedited show...cause they went for laughs in this one it seemed. Hell, at least give Doogie a little mention! :)

It could be bad, but there is a LOT worse out there. Most sitcoms these days are worse. Mom, Dads, Two Broke Girls, Raising Hope, The Goldbergs, Mike and Molly, The Millers, Two and a Half Men since Sheen left, Sean Saves the World... and that's not even counting ones that weren't from this season. There have been a crapton of horrible sitcoms in the last few years. I'd rather watch bad HIMYM than most of the other shows that the networks were throwing out there.

I think that even when HIMYM wasn't making you laugh, it still gave you some reason to watch. I never grew to loathe the characters the way I did with some sitcoms. After The New Girl stopped being funny (and it was really funny in S2), I bailed completely. I just didn't care at all whether the characters lived or found happiness or not. HIMYM grew stale, sure, but I still cared about these people.

The show really wouldn't work as an R-rated comedy because the whole concept is Ted telling his kids the story of how he met their mother. Ted's not going to tell them about smoking a joint. He's going to tell them he ate a sandwich.

That's part of the charm of the show.

I hope we finally learn the pineapple story tonight.

Nice piece from Donna Bowman at the AV Club on the show.

I wish her and Noel were my friends so I could hang out them — execute sad blue french horn sound now — but I can still read them. She's an unabashed super fan of the show and I think she nails it.

An interesting take and one that makes a lot of sense unless you believe the story that Victoria would have been the mother if they had to cut the series short by a season.

I can now happily add this to the roster of shows of which I have never ever watched a single complete episode:

    Leave It to Beaver
    Bonanza
    Cosby
    Family Ties
    Taxi
    Too Close for Comfort
    Night Court
    Hotel
    Battlestar Galactica (any version)
    Golden Girls
    Miami Vice
    Highway to Heaven
    Moonlighting
    Who's the Boss?
    Growing Pains
    A Different World
    ALF
    Valerie's Family/Hogan Family, etc
    Newhart v. 2
    Empty Nest
    21 Jump Street
    Ab Fab
    Baywatch
Buffy (although I think i did see the movie)
    Dawson's Creek
    Family Matters
    Fresh Prince
    Head of the Class
    MacGyver
    Mad About You
    Boy Meets World
    Mr. Belvedere
    Grace Under Fire
    Caroline In the City
    The Single Guy
    My Two Dads
    Suddenly Susan
    Perfect Strangers
    The Practice
    Star Trek: DS9
    ST: Voyageer
Seinfeld (*- until the final episode)

Pretty much any of the FOX shitburger cartoons: I have watched a couple of 'Simpsons' episodes, but that's it.

I don't even feel like looking up shows post-2000.

    Fuck 'em all.

Like Inky, I have no idea what the point of Starman's post was or why we should care.

I do know that he missed some crap, but he also missed some damn entertaining television.
