I've already determined that the mother is far too good for Ted. :D

So is Robin. So are many of the women he dated. Ted is a selfish, whiny jerk.

Just checking. I wasn't sure if I had missed it.

That's been my biggest issue with the show. I like Marshall and Lily. I like Barney. I like Robin.

But the main character, the person who we're supposed to care about the most, at least when it comes to the outcome of the show, is a colossal unlikable douche.

I can't remember who pitched it, but I'm holding out for the ending of Ted in a nursing home, suffering from dementia telling the story that never happened to Lily and Marshall, whom he believes are his kids.

Man, a lot of people have it out for Ted.

I wanted Anna Gunn to be the mother... :D

Since this season takes place over the course of a few days, the biggest problem might be that every episode could feel like one of the series' last ones.

Tonight's main story and the speech that Lily gave felt like something that you'd see in a finale or in an episode leading up to the finale. And we're still in September.

But I thought that tonight's episode was much better than what I was anticipating after seeing last week's teaser. Wayne Brady was great. The flashbacks were fun. I enjoy making fun of the elderly and the episode had just enough cheesy-ness for me. As for the final scene? Next week should be fun (although the stupid teaser kind of killed the drama).

Crap, there was a teaser? We turned it off after they only showed what looked like a promo for the DVDs.

I really like that feeling. And I really, really liked this episode.

Yeah, the episode ends with Barney confronting Ted about something, thus tension. Then the teaser shows them laughing while standing in the same place where the confrontation happens, pretty much sucking any of the drama out of it. Not very well done.

I'm really not liking the teasers at the end of the show.

The one last night ruined the final scene, just as you said.
