Is your brother perennially the most unpopular player on his teams? :D

  3. Getting in late on this one. Just read through all the posts, and I still can't believe someone was talking shit about Tony Gwynn.

    Holy crap.

Never the same player after getting hit on the wrist at the end of the '00 season.

The question is how many of the following active players would you vote into the HOF.

It doesn't say How many of the following active players with 300 wins as a pitcher would you vote into the HOF.

There are other 300-game winners who didn't get into the Hall of Fame right away (Don Sutton for one, Phil Niekro's another). I think Glavine will get in, but not first ballot. Doesn't mean I have to vote for him.

He was a part of a strong Atlanta group, of course, and yes, Maddux and Smoltz and Glavine made for a solid 1-2-3 grouping, but him alone? I'm happy for his 300th win, but I can't think of too many times when I said to myself, Wow, Tom Glavine's pitching? It's a must see.

Personal preference, I guess. I know you are a Glavine fan anyway. I can't win this argument. Of course, being that I'm a Nolan Ryan fan and knowing that there were plenty of people who STILL felt he wasn't a Hall of Famer (yeah, I know he got one of the highest HOF vote percentages), I understand your attitude toward me on this one.

It's all good. Then again, I'm pretty sure I said that every fifth day. :)

  9. I recall Glavine coming off as a prick during the strike when he was a player rep, and I still hold it against him. That being said, there's absolutely no doubt that he's a first-ballot HOF.

Maybe it's still that he chose baseball over hockey :D
