How many states have you visited?

I've also been to the US Virgin Islands once and will be returning there this summer with a layover in Puerto Rico, so 30 states and two territories — three if you count DC. Canada and the Bahamas are the only foreign countries.

 

Both of these categories sound like they should be variations on the "had sex in" lists.

 

just went to 11 states on a road trip this week. drove to batesville, arkansas to see Lucero play. then detoured to Louisville on the way back to Carolina because I'd never been to Louisville...

however, i had been to all 11 of the states.

been stuck at 38 states for a few years now. the ones i have left are: Alaska, Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, Montana, South Dakota, North Dakota, New Hampshire, Maine, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Rhode Island.

 

Got me some loving in California, Maryland (D.C., actually), Missouri, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Virginia and Washington, plus Canada, where we went on our honeymoon, so it was guaranteed.

 

Have gone to the dentist on three continents.

 

You absolutely can count Missouri. I did the same thing six years ago, but I at least had dinner, lunch the next day and flew out in St. Louis.

I've been to 28 states and 15 countries. None were just airport layovers (if I add airport only, my number is 29). The ones in which I, uh, did not sleep alone will remain classified information.

 

I've reported from 36 of our 57 United States.
One of my brothers-in-law lives in Maine. We have some vague notion of an eastern swing up there, maybe next year.
