How many tabs do you have open right now?

I know it's crazy. My house is always a mess and my desk is practically unusable. But if I have more than a handful of tabs open on one device I get antsy.

Six on the "primary browser window" I use most of the time: newspaper homepage, work e-mail, personal e-mail, Twitter, and a couple of journalism forums. But I probably have two dozen windows open right now. The job-search window might have 20 tabs of its own, starting with LinkedIn. Most of the others are one-offs, either articles I'm going to read or things to fill out (like job applications and the "Hamilton" lottery).

At work, there are at least a half-dozen that never close -- newspaper homepage, web-based CMS, local schedule site, photo archive, work and personal e-mail, Pandora -- plus a few others from stories I haven't finished (or even started) yet.

Hell, I usually have multiple SJ tabs open at a time, often one for basic browsing and another that's locked on a long thread I'm catching up on in fits and starts (RIP Politics); nothing worse than mixing up the two and realizing I have to go back 40 pages to find where I left off because the Read Unread Posts anchor has refreshed.

At work I have three monitors -- like the increasing size of TVs, it's hard to ever imagine going backward -- so I have at least 3 windows open at a time with as many as a dozen tabs each.

Top left is my anchor for web apps I always use: Asana, Salesforce, Pardot, Outreach, Confluence, Wordpress CMS, Office 365, etc.

Top right is my work product: Word docs, spreadsheets, reading and research sources.

My laptop, No. 3, is my hub for Outlook and Slack. And where my browser for SJ, NPR, personal email, Amazon Music, etc live.

Okay, here is the screenshot that I promised, to prove I wasn't kidding about 103:

And all ARE work, or at least not NSFW.

What? You think I was going to screenshot my whole screen and let you all microscopically examine my tabs for clues? SHIT NO. I'm not stupid, or that stupid.

10 on two browsers right now.

My day starts by loading work email, Wordpress, Slack, master budget, work Facebook, newspaper website and Yahoo fantasy on Chrome and our internal archives sj.com and personal Facebook and Yahoo mail on Firefox.

Twitter and others are opened and closed throughout the day
