I have fond memories of when I was in college in Edmonton my final year (2001-02) and there was a gas war going on -- Safeway was moving in with their gas bars and brought in the 3.5 cents a litre off with their membership cards, forcing everyone to respond, then Safeway would respond and back and forth. I was paying 35 cents a litre at one point. I could fill up my Mazda 323 hatchback for a little over $15 from empty. Those were good days. Now, even with the falling price, I am still over $60 to fill my Jeep from empty.

At the same exit I saw 2.09 on one side of the highway and 2.19 on the other side yesterday.

We've got at least two stations engaged in a price war tonight. Latest report, as of about half an hour ago, had one of them down to $1.77.

I sure as hell hope they're open when I get off.

Rhode Island, could have paid 2.38 for 87, but my g/f only likes her Charger filled with 89, so I paid a little more, which still wasn't bad.

What state are y'all in paying under 2 bucks?
