Prices bounced back up to $1.59. But I think it's temporary.

Filled up for $1.59 last Thursday but it has now bounced up to $1.79. Why, I don't know. Oil has remained in the mid-40s.

Time to fill up your swimming pools with "cheap" gas while you can.

Oil producers pull lever for huge output cut to stop price slide

ORAN, Algeria (AFP) — OPEC and non-OPEC oil exporters took action on Wednesday that could remove up to 2.6 million barrels of oil from the market in a bold bid to boost prices and producers' incomes.

The Saudi Arabian oil minister said the 13-nation OPEC cartel had agreed at a meeting here on an OPEC production cut of two million barrels a day, its largest ever and equivalent to about 7.0 percent of its current output quota of 27.3 million barrels a day. . .

It's scary how they can just come out of a meeting and say, "Uh, yeah, 7 percent cut. Thanks. Have a nice day."

Anyway, I saw a low of $1.58 in the Tampa Bay area.

As an example of the impact of lower gas prices, I pushed the YES button when it asked me if I wanted a car wash.

I've said it throughout this thread, but I hope each and every person responsible for the manipulation of oil prices (at the OPEC level and beyond and especially investors) loses everything they have because of these low prices and ends up homeless.

    Um, okay.

Bumped back up to 1.52 on post. 7-cent increase.

What we seem to have here is OPEC kneejerkitis. Never fails.

Oil followed its $5 jump with a $6 drop and it's now under $40 a barrel. Will tank up tonight after work at $1.39.
