$2.49.9 here. Last week, the Kroger discount got me $2.18.9. Bastards. All of them.

Pretty similar here... 2.21 to 2.51 in the same time frame.. I filled up at 2.43 yesterday, it went to 2.47 a couple hours later and is 2.51 this morning at the same station

    Bumping.

I'm hearing reports prices went up overnight because of the hurricane in the Gulf. Anyone seeing a spike?

Don't know, but I made sure to fill up yesterday afternoon specifically for that reason.

Remember pre-election 2008 when the prices went down and all the oil company apologists said "oh, it goes down at this time of the year every year?'' Well? What happened?

Also, prices went down just before the 2006 election (under $2 in many places), then right back up just after the election.

in the summer of 2008, prices were over $4 a gallon. then it dropped to this. In 2006, the drop wasn't as much in sept/oct., but there was a pretty good drop.

This year, a non-national election year, prices go up. Go figure.

With Democrats in power, I expect Big Oil to keep prices up in 2010.

If Republicans were in power, I'd count on oil prices being high.

Gas has climbed above $3 for the first time in a year or longer. Can't remember when I paid more than $3 for gas.

Might be in a minority but I think higher gas prices are a good thing. It will promote badly needed conservation and bring less dependency on Middle Eastern oil.

I think Federal Govt should tack an an extra .50 per gallon that would go directly to deficit reduction.
