How much did you pay for gas today?

I haven't paid more than $30 in a while, probably since prices hit $4 a few years back. I paid $26 both times I filled up this week.

Why? Did Fox cancel American Idol or something? Is there a nationwide HDTV shortage? Have all the McDonalds closed?

We can't even get a viable third political party established. If people aren't going to revolt at the ballot box, they damn sure aren't going to take to the streets.

Oh, and I paid $3.39 earlier today.

While standing there, I wondered - does anybody use mid-grade or premium gas?

Mid-grade and premium is 15-30 cents higher, at least at some places here, than regular unleaded.

My wife's damn '97 Nissan Maxima requires premium.

No, it doesn't. You won't get the same engine performance and might get slightly less MPG, but it won't damage the engine to run regular. You might be able to save money by using regular gas and putting in an octane-boost additive.

Gas went from $3.09 a week ago yesterday to $3.49 at the highest place in my little ruby-red exurban outpost. It didn't spike that much after either Katrina or Ike.

Pretty good bang for the buck for removing the 2% of world output that Libya provided.

I've got a V6 pickup and it pings like hell with 87 anytime I'm under strain in fifth. There is a reason for different grades.

That being said, Jeep V6, in my opinion one of the most underrated engines ever made, doesn't want anything but 87 and will run for 300K and never stutter.

Paid $3.19 Friday and it jumped to $3.32 halfway through the fill-up.

It hit $4 three years ago and we're going to blow through that before the first game of the NCAA Tournament. Could be at $5 by the time the Masters rolls around.

Holy shit. Where do you people live?

I paid $3.959 yesterday -- and not for the good stuff, it was over $4.00.

I heard some report on the radio this morning that said gas might go up to $3.75 per gallon. At this point, I'd welcome that.

If $3.75 becomes a national average, I'll be paying $4.25.

Can't believe there hasn't been more hell raised over this.

$3.43 or $3.53 (cash and credit prices).

It's about 10-20 cents more to the west, north and south of me.
